The fundamental mission of St. Maria Goretti School in Hatfield, PA is to respond to the call of Christ and share faithfully in the Church’s vocation of building God’s kingdom on earth. In a loving Christian environment, the student experiences the fourfold nature of the Church: message, worship, community and service. The St. Maria Goretti School community affirms its primary commitment to Christ and to the spreading of His Good News as handed down by the Church. Our shared responsibility to the students of St. Maria Goretti School is to provide an atmosphere of love of God and respect for others as well as an education based on traditional Catholic values and academic excellence.

Sharing the message of God’s love for each person is the core of all activities at St. Maria Goretti School. The priests, administration, faculty and parents join together in the common goal of each student’s faith development and integrated living. Recognizing that Christian holiness is the call for each person to live to his/her fullest potential, St. Maria Goretti School enables each student to develop not just intellectually, but also spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically as well.

The academic purpose of St. Maria Goretti School is to assist the development of each student as an integrated human being who is able and willing to contribute to the mission of the Church in the twenty-first century, which is the building of God’s kingdom on earth.

Each child is a unique creation of God, fashioned in the Divine Image. Children learn to know, love and participate in all aspects of life by acquiring their education in a Catholic Christian environment. Religion is an ever-present reality in the daily life of St. Maria Goretti School. Each day begins and ends with prayer, and Religion is integrated into other curricular areas whenever possible. The student learns to love and appreciate the Catholic faith as he/she learns truths and traditions that will be part of his/her life. Since faith is the basis for the child’s development, spiritual growth parallels all other aspects of maturation. As the student progresses from kindergarten to eighth grade, a firm foundation of faith, hope and love becomes part of the child’s life.
